Display
The Road Angel Classic has a clear high contrast LCD panel with enough information to let you know how far away the next speedtrap or accident blackspot is.

The Road Angel Classic has an internal database which it uses to store the locations speedtraps such as Gatso, Truvelo and average speed cameras as well as known laser sites either mobile or fixed. The database also includes hazardous locations for example accident blackspots.

The Road Angel Classic features a built in GPS receiver which is continously checking to find out its current location. The Road Angel uses this information to calculate its speed and direction. The Classic also combines both the information from the database with the GPS information to alert you of nearby speedtraps and accident blackspots.

When the Road Angel device detects that you are within the set range of a hazard the backlight of the screen will change from green to red and the distance meter will display either 1 to 5 bars depending on the distance of the hazard to allow you to know how close you are to the hazard. Aswell as the backlight and distance meter the screen will also display the hazard type and also give off an audiable alert. As you get closer the audiable alert will frewuency increase aswell as the backlight flashing. Once the hazard has passed the warnings will stop and the backlight will return to green.

Updating The Database
Updating the database is easily done with the Blackspot software installed in your PC and the serial cable that is included. With the amount of speedtraps set to triple in the next 2 years and accident blackspot data changing constantly, anybody doing a high mileage would need to make regular updates to the Road Angel. The first year of unlimited updates is included in the purchase price and a subscription to the database is available after the first year for only £49.

To update the Road Angel Classic you simply connect it to your computer with the supplied serial cable and use the software on your PC to update the Classics internal database, allowing the Road Angel to alert you of new speedtrap and accident blackspot locations. When you purchase the Road Angel classic you can update the database as much as you want within the first year for free, after that there is a subscription charge of only £49 a year. There is also a modem available as an extra if you do not have access to a PC.

The Road Angel Classic allows you to customise the device to suit your needs and gives you the ability to add or remove locations from the database and change settings such as the warning range and volume aswell as other settings.
